AEC Technical Manager/ Consulting - Training Manager 

Derek is an Autodesk Certified Instructor and an Application Specialist for Kelar Pacific, an Autodesk Reseller in Southern California in the AEC Solutions Division offerings. He specializes in the MEP industry as an Implementation Certified Expert and is currently a Level 5 Application Engineer. His background is in Architecture & the HVAC Mechanical Design industry with over 15 years experience. For the last 14 years, he has worked in the Autodesk Gold VAR channel assisting many clients in Southern California. He also serves the local User Groups in Southern California, providing a forum that is free for users in the AEC Community.

Before joining the Autodesk VAR Channel, Derek was a Mechanical Designer for Popov Engineers in Irvine in 1990. For eight years, he was the MEP Project Manager for multiple projects including a $30 million Telecom infrastructure replacement for Kaiser Los Angles Medical Center and a $40 million CSULA Thermal Energy Storage System and Campus Infrastructure upgrade.

Derek continues to serve the SOCAL community by involving himself with clients that require support on applying new technologies and processes such as BIM/FIM & Construction Coordination. This clientele ranges from firms such as Southland Industries Inc., who have put themselves on the cutting edge of AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, Navisworks integration into the MEP Design/Build/Fabrication arena, to JR Filanc, for large underground Piping distribution and valve / Piping Accessory content building.
